Museums and Places of Historic Interest Old Sarum Castle (15 minutes away) - Standing sentinel over the modern city of Salisbury in southern Wiltshire is the ancient city of Old Sarum build around 3000BCE and inhabited by man for over 5000 years. Salisbury Cathedral (15 minutes away) - Started in 1220 it was completed by 1258, with the spire, the tallest in England (123m/404ft) added a generation later. The Museum of Army Flying (10 minutes away) - Celebrating over one hundred years of army aviation, this award-winning museum is home to one of the country’s finest historical aviation collections. Stonehenge (10 minutes away) - Stonehenge is the most important prehistoric monument in Britain. It consists of earth, timber, and stone structures. Stonehenge dates from 3100-2300 B.C. The Museum of Iron Age (10 minutes away) - Here you will find a list of many more museums in Hampshire, such as the Iron Age museum which is only 20 minutes drive from our hotel. Danebury Iron Age Hill Fort (10 minutes away) - Iron Age earthworks. Rich conservation downland. Museum of the Iron Age in nearby Andover. Broadlands (30 minutes away) - Broadlands has been a part of English history for centuries, home to the late Lord Montbatten, and host to royalty and the brilliant, powerful and celebrated of their time. Longleat House (30 minutes away) - Longleat is widely regarded as the best example of high Elizabethan architecture in Britain and one of the most beautiful stately homes open to the public. Zoos, Family \ Theme Parks Paultons Leisure Park (30 minutes away) - A great family day out with over 40 different attractions and rides included in the price, as well as some stunning gardens and animals. Most attractions designed for younger children. Chessington World of Adventures (40 minutes away) - A fun filled day awaits at this family park designed for the teenager in us, with over 100 attractions in 6 themed areas as well as a zoo, it best to make a day of it. Thorpe Park (45 minutes away) - The largest theme park in the south with 4 rollercoasters and many more white knuckle rides, as well as a farm park packed full of farm animals to see and touch. Something for the adults and children of all ages at the park. Bird World (35 minutes away) - Britain's largest bird park and gardens, lots of themed area to view the birds from an artificial beach to a penguins iceberg. Marwell Zoological Park (40 minutes away) - Over 100 different kinds of animals to see, with 3km of path its best to make a day to see all the attractions. Cholderton Rare Breeds Farm (5 minutes away) - This family attraction features Rabbit World and a chance to get close to many rare countryside animals. The Hawk Conservancy and Country Park (7 Minutes away) - Many birds of prey from native british birds to those from abroad. Lots to see including various flying displays to watch. Many endangered species are bred here too. You can also spend a day learning to drive a Formula 3 or Ferrari sports car. Avon Springs Fishing Lakes (10 minutes away) - Set beside the picturesque River Avon.
